The Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) is Alberta’s new national adult education credential launched in 2024 to replace the GED® in Canada. It offers adults who have not completed high school a rigorous, recognized way to demonstrate their academic skills and gain access to further education, training, and employment opportunities — while preserving the validity of existing GED® credentials.

The CAEC is designed to reflect Canada’s diverse learners and be accessible across provinces and territories. Tests are offered in English and French, include core subjects like reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, and support accommodations for learners with needs.
