Fire Protection and Prevention

TSAG’s Fire Protection and Prevention program provides technical services in the area of fire protection. The program also offers firefighter training and courses to fire chiefs and fire department members in First Nation communities across Alberta.

Fire services in this area:

  • Fire investigations in the event of a death, injury, and/or loss over $500,000
  • Annual fire department reviews
  • Fire inspections of First Nation community buildings

Fire prevention and Prevention education initiatives:

  • Jointly monitor the Disaster Planning and Retention services with the Province of Alberta
  • Aboriginal Firefighters Association of Canada (AFAC) National Aboriginal Firefighter Competition
  • AFAC Fire Safety Multimedia and Poster Contest at First Nation Schools
  • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Prevention Week campaign
  • Fire safety presentations in First Nation schools
